As indicated months ago, DHS plans to crack down on employers of illegal laborers.

Border Fence 94 percent complete

Associated Press is reporting that 94 percent of the 670 mile border fence is complete.  The remaining miles are stuck in dispute because the government needs to reimburse landowners if they can't access their land in the future.

We are still anticipating the government to seek immigration resolution in 2010.  Despite what Senator Reid is overpromising in 2009, the Washington Post reports 2010 is more likely for immigration resolution.  From his busy schedule, President Obama has even postponed the closed door meeting on the immigration subject twice this month.  We encourage Obama not to launch more debate, but immigration resolution.

The government on Friday extended E-Verify for another two years.  However, the government continues to stall on a decision for its mandatory use.  Some question if it works, it's time to get rid of it

DHS ICE expands Secure Communities

Washington Post reports that DHS ICE Secure Communities initiative expands to all counties by 2012.  When county jails start to cross check a federal database on immigration status, deportations may increase by 10 times.  This interface is 10 years over due. It is no wonder why we had so many issues with illegal immigration over this last decade.

It is quite remarkable that Fox continues to push NAFTA-plus.  It's been 10 years and he continues to have the same enthusiasm as he did in 2000 when he and George W. Bush were considering presidential runs.  In fact, one could make the case we are further from the center than we were ten years. What is in store over the next 10 years?  The top issues are still border security, immigration reform, and reducing the power of drug cartels in favor of real and lasting economic growth.
